WCOOP #7 Limit Holdem 2nd place finish for $53k

I have played 6 or 7 limit holdem tournies in my lifetime now and have 2 deep cashes. i also got 15th place in a ftops limit event during their first series. maybe i should play some more limit tournies although they put me on mega tilt since its easier to suckout. thanks to the pimaster for being the best railbird in the history of poker.

Im turning into a big fish

Well i'm gradually losing my bankroll by playing really stupid. Every time i start my session down i try to chase back my loses by playing reckless. I cant make big folds and make too many bluffs. I need to put a stop to these bad habits.

Steps to turn things around
-Immediately quit the session once i get down 2 buyins
-Drop to 2/4 and 3/6nl for a couple sessions to get my groove back
-Limit the tables i play to 4 at a time

My wsop main event

My table looked pretty solid. There was a couple of average players at the table but the rest of them were real solid. The only person i recognized was chip jett 2 to my right. I decided to play tight since my table was playing solid and not make a big bluff in early levels. I was gonna try and see alot of flop early on though. Here are the most notable hands

50/100
utg raises to 300 i call on button with 78s both blinds call. flop comes T-8-8 (2 clubs). utg bets 750 i flat call blinds fold. turn comes 9 of clubs he checks i bet 1200 he calls my read was that he had overpair with club here. river was 6d he checks i bet 1800 he folds. i really regret not raising this on the flop but i think he gets away from his overpair here on turn anyways.

i raise in MP to 300 with TsTc guy behind me calls SB reraises to 1350 i call i can tell this guy has a monster. flop comes q-9-6 all diamonds he checks i check turn comes the jack of clubs he checks i think about betting here but i thought he would call, it looks he has two black kings or aces. turn comes a blank he checks i check he shows two black aces. i end this level at 21.5k

100/200
i look down at AhQh in the bb after two players limped i raise to 1200 and only the first limper calls. flop comes 3-7-7r i bet 1400 he calls turn comes a 9 i bet 2600 he calls river comes a jack and it goes check-check he shows 44. i gave this guy credit for making a good call after i saw him call a riverbet with jack high in a raised blind vs blind battle. But at the same time he goes out by playing a gigantic 80k pot in the 2nd level with AK on a board of A-8-6 against a set of 66 when he should obviously have folded. i end this level with 16.5k

200/400
A HUGE INTERESTING HAND!
i raise to 1100 with AsQc in the hijack the cutoff calls after a 20 sec think. flop comes 8-3-4 (2 hearts) i bet 1600 he calls. turn comes another 8 he bets 2500 i really thought he was on flush draw so i call.river comes a total blank the deuce of spades. i check he instantly bets 5k i remember looking at him when he showed down a good hand and his body language looked different this time. his pulse on his neckwas beating like crazy i was expecting to see KhQh or AhJh. So i make the call with Ace high queen kicker! he doesnt want to turn over his hand so im high-fiving myself in my head then he reluctantly turns over AhKh i show my AQ and he celebrates his great value bet. Never underestimate the physical read.

there was 2 limpers in front of me sb completes i look down at AK in the bb i shove allin for 6450 total.i really didnt think i was gonna get called but i wanted it to look like i was on tilt and get a call from a hand like AT/AJ. The lp limper ended up thinking for 2 mintues and calls with 77 with 5k behind after calling, i win the race.

i raise to 1200 with 88 in EP chip jett calls in bb. flop comes 5-9-6r. he checks i bet 1800 he check raises to 4200 i really thought he had a big hand here i dont think he would have folded if i went allin. i head to dinner break with 8.7k

200/400 ante 50
they all fold to the sb he limps i check j3 in bb. flop comes j-t-3 he bets 1050 i raise to 3k he putsme allin i call he shows QT my hand holds

i raise to 1200 with AcKs in MP the button calls. flop comes 6-9-3 (2 spades) i bet 1800 he calls i put him on a medium pair. turn comes another 3 i bet 4k he thinks for 30 seconds and calls. river is a 8 flush misses i have 9,300 left and decide to jam in. i had a tight image and i thought he would have to give me respect if i tripel barreled but of course he calls with 77. i dont give him any respect for making this call. he was one of the 3 average players at the table. i always bluff the wrong guy, something i really need to work on.

I will try to post my other wsop prelim tournies later.

My First 2 Events of the WSOP

I have played 3 events so far heres what happened in the first 2. The first was the 2000nl and i didnt last past the 2nd level. There was only 1 interesting hand.

25/50

I have about 3,800 when this happens. I have JJ. The big fish at the table min raises to 100 in MP and then the button makes it 400. I have seen this guy squeeze preflop already once and he was playing pretty aggressive so i thought i had the best hand and reraised to 1125. He then went allin for 2,150 more. I thought the guy would reraise less than with KK or AA against the fish so i put him on AK and made the marginal call. He shows KK. I shouldnt be playing allin pots with jacks in the first and second level. I should have just called the 400 and lead at the flop or fold.

1500nl shorthanded

25/50
I start off at a juicy table with jennifer tilly. I pick off a couple of bluffs and then i bluff it all back by reraising the button with 4-5s. He raised to 200 and he looked weak so i reraised to 575. he called and i bet 650 on a k-q-7 rainbow flop. he went allin for like 1500 more. i have no idea what this guy had.

I unforunately get moved from that juicy table to issac haxton's table. I have alot of respect for his game. Issac was raising almost everytime it was folded to him. He was in the cutoff when i was in the big blind so i knew i was in for a big challenge. I decided to just play tight and use it to my advantage.

Issac raises to 150 in the cuttoff and the sb calls i decide to call with q-8o. it comes k-q-q and the sb leads for 200 i called it pretty fast/weakly to make it look like i dont have a queen. Issac then raises to 1k the small blind folds i think about it for a little bit and call since im pretty confident issac is bluffing. turn comes a 9 i check he gives up, T on river check-check. My fast call won me a bigger pot i really liked how i played it. He outplayed me a few times im pretty sure and got most of those chips back from me. I reraise him once with 6-8o since i had a tight image and succeeded.

50/100
Issac gets busted on a cooler hand so im happy. So im at 4700 now, the new chipleader limps utg i limp on button with 44. flop comes j-4-8 (2 hearts) chipleader bets 350 i raise to 850. he
thinks about putting me allin/reraising but ends up flat calling. turn is the K of hearts check-check. river is a 3 non-heart he bets 1k i decide to pay off. He had q-j of hearts.

100/200-100/200(w/ante)-150/300(ante)-200/400(ante)
i get moved to a new table which was playing really soft. There was this native american who was making these huge overbets on flops and raising 5-6x the blind preflop. Everytime he saw weakness preflop he was raising. I was waiting to trap him for all my chips. I was grinding a 20bb stack in about every one of these levels. There was no big pots just a bunch of small pots. I was pretty card dead, I jammed a couple of times with a-q and a-j when i thought they were the best hand.

200/400 ante 50
There was 1400 or so players in this event and they will done to 170-175 players when this happened 126 get paid. The crazy native american limps in sb i check in bb with q-8o. I started
the hand with 8,200 and he had 4,500 (he had about 14k a couple hands ago but he donked a bunch off). Flop comes a-k-k and he instantly shoved allin. i knew what was going thru his head he knew i would probably put him allin or raise preflop with an ace so he thinks i cant call. But i call him pretty quickly and go with my instincts. he has j-2 of diamonds and hits running diamonds, great hand squanto.

I now have 3,600 and get moved to a new table immediately after that last hand. i notice joe awada has a monster stack. i move in on my 2nd hand with a-6s and pick up blinds. About an orbit later im in sb joe raises to 900 on button i shove in with a-9 for 4000 total and he called a-8s. i lose to diamond flush again and miss the money by about 40 players. I feel like i played perfect and dont regret any decision i made just ran bad in all of the big pots i played.

E.G. Harvin from the Foxwoods WPT LMAO!!

If you havent seen this episode yet check out pokertube.com. Im amazed how many donks keep making final tables of the world poker tour. I really need to start playing some of these events. The guy who gets 2nd place, E.G. Harvin, reminds me of the players at the $12 double shooutout satellites for the pokerstars million tourney. He calls almost every contiuation bet, limps into every pot, makes thses maniac bluffs, gives off a million tells, folds playable hands in the bb to a raise then all of a sudden defend with j-3 suited, and never folds a pair. He completely owned Mimi Tran and Mimi had position on him almost every time. This guy has so many tells and it didnt even look like Mimi tried to get a physical read when she had a decision against him. But the eventual winner, Nenad Medic, played him like a fiddle. He was getting paid off everytime he hit a hand, giving E.G. rope to hang himself, and avoiding marginal situations against him. My favorite hand is when E.G. calls a 500k bet on the river in a 1.1 million pot against Nenad with 33 on a board of Q-5-9-4-A, Classic.

There is no way somone like E.G. can make a wpt final table in Vegas. The skill level is so much higher at final tables in Vegas and the west coast. So if everything is going well after the wsop im gonna play some of the weaker wpt events.

My choices:
1) 2007 GULF COAST POKER CHAMPIONSHIP (WPT)
09-06-2007 to 09-09-2007

2) 2007 BORGATA POKER OPEN (WPT)

Sweating to the oldies

I have been getting up before noon the last 2 weeks and lifting weights or running almost everyday. My poker results have really improved since i have started working out. Im up about 40k the last 2 weeks playing mostly 10/20nl on fulltilt. I feel like i play much more focused now and hardly tilt.

Im starting to really hate blogging. I started a blog to try and write long thougthful posts but i have no desire to do that. I wanted to get my brain thinking since i only use it to play poker. I guess I will stick to short retarded posts like this one. F BLOGGING

He reraised a guy 3 hands earlier and made a normal sized reraise so i put him on AK when he made this huge reraise. So I thought shoving on a non ace or king flop would be the best play.

I get looked up nonstop with ace high when i do stop and goes. Almost everytime they look me up they are behind. This guy was just lucky that this was one of those times. Whoever thought of the poker stop and go is brillant.

Im going busto on pokerstars

I played two tables at stars and two tables at fulltilt 10/20nl. It was mostly all from stars. This superlag calling station was basically owning me. Anytime i hit a hand against him he would have hit it better. I barely have any money left on stars now. I only played for a little over a hour because i lost 2 buyins at the same time and decided nothing good is gonna come if i keep playing.

-$6,354.50 so far.
$31,354.50 to go.

I guarantee that i will make $25k this week

I need to start to making some money so i can spend some serious dough at the wsop. Im even so far for the year mainly because of losing at 25/50 plo and lack of motivation.

So for the week of April 2nd-8th i guarantee im gonna bank $25k playing nothing higher than 10/20. I really feel like kicking some ass this week. I feel so relaxed and focused because i have been starting to work out on a regular basis.

If anybody wants to take any bets on this let me know.

Heartland Poker Tour Gary, IN And The Guy Who Folds Kings Preflop To Me

The buyin was $2700 to play against the best construction workers, farmers, and ghetto black people in the Gary area. There was 208 players and first place was 141k. The structure was not too bad. You start with 15k in chips and blinds start at 100/100 with 40 minute levels.

My table was super weak besides one guy who was playing perfect poker. He had some major game. I was completely owning the first 3 hours. Floating flops when i thought they were weak and taking it away on a later street. Every single one of my bluffs worked besides one. The one that didnt work was a blind on blind war and the guy called me with A-7 on a k-8-9-6-7 board. It went check-check on flop. He bet the pot on turn 400 and i called with a pair of 6s. i put him on an open ended on turn. he bet 500 on river and i raised him 1000 more. I think its a great bluff even though the guy was a major donkey. One guy who i was completely owning was getting really frustrated with me and kept commenting how i bluff all the time. i only got busted bluffing one hand!

I got up to 38k in chips at one point then i made my only mistake of the tourney. this new guy at the table min raised my big blind to 1200 on the button. i called with k-8 (no spades). it came k-3-2 all spades. i checked he bet 1200 i raised 2400 more then he went allin for 6000 more. It was such an easy laydown but i just suffered a mental lapse.

So i basically went no where for the next 2 levels. the blinds went from 300/600 to 400/800 to 500/1000 then to 1k/2k. once it got to 1k/2k it turned into a shove fest. i knew i had win to a coinflip soon to start a run to the money.
i had 26k and shoved in the small blind with k-q and the big blind had 99. i barely had him covered and that was basically it.

I feel like im playing so much better in tournaments now. I used to show a bluff to get paid off easier when i hit a hand but i think the best strategy now is to try and get respect. They will call you anyway if you are being active at the table and i will probably get busted bluffing eventually. This style was working really well when i was playing the $560 satellite the night before the main event tourney. I was showing good hands when people were calling me and i didnt reraise someone once preflop. So i reraised preflop this one guy who i thought was picking on limpers a little bit too much and i thought i would get respect if i reraised. He was a pretty good player so i know he will lay a hand down like 10s to me. He folds less 10 seconds after i raise him saying that he knows i have aces and folds his kings face up!!!!! i had 5-6 offsuit.

i was playing not even close to nitty but i was showing down good hands when i was called. I was trying this strategy in a 5/10nl cash game at the casino the day before the main event and it was working really well. i was showing down good hands at the start then i started just stealing like crazy so easily. It was a good thing i was getting respect because i has having a very hard time hitting a hand. I did two 3-barrel bluffs and both of them worked because they saw me show down really good hands when i was called. Although eventually they did see some of the crap hands i was raising with.

I feel like im really on to something. Watch out world series of poker.

I lost 25k in one day. weeeeeeeeeeee

This sets my record as the biggest loss in one day. I was 4-tabling pot limit omaha 25/50 and it was 4 handed or less on all the tables. Its a very high varience game to play. I didnt think i was playing bad just running really cold. Gigbet joined the game halfway thru my session. Gigabet has alot of flaws in his plo game. I was surprised how bad he was playing but he was running super hot. Although hes definitely not worse than the worst plo player of all time, Gus Hansen. Anytime you have free time watch Gus play high stakes plo on fulltilt. I think he might be retarded. I wish he would record himself playing online so i could hear his brillant thought process.

my first post

I really hate writing so this is a real challenge for me. I feel like i have been getting dumber everyday because all i have done mentally challenging the last 2 years is play poker. Thats the main reason i decided to start a blog.
